I hope you are staying safe, healthy, and motivated during these strange times. I’m sending good vibes and believe things will start looking up sooner than later.
It’s been a while since the last Cannabis and Covid update, and by golly, I’ve got loads to share!
I’d like to start by thanking our good friend, Monty Burns. Monty has been an avid grower for years and is now El Jefe of his own Cannabis growth and distribution company. He was kind enough to donate us a gently used grow tent, and two magnificent Sun System LEC lights (more about those to come later on). The tent is massive at 4x8x8, and the two lights provide plenty of power to aide in the plant growth. Thanks, Monty!
Next, I’d like to thank my roomie, Z. When shit needs to get done, I know I can always rely on Z-Baby. He set up the whole tent by himself, as I played the role of Foreman- sipping coffee and barking orders. The tent fits beautifully in our garage, and it gives us a good laugh seeing my previous, puny tent next to the massive addition.
And now onto the plants. There was a rough patch for about 3 weeks as I struggled with the watering process. I am learning more and more about the plants and how to maintain them. The most important thing I learned when watering is that it isn’t the frequency of the watering, rather the quantity. It is important to water through the plants, allowing that sweet, sweet H2O to reach the bottom of the pot where the roots will really soak up the goods. You almost have to flood those gems!
Previously, I had been watering on a near daily basis, yet a much smaller quantity. This lead to slower development, yellowing of leaves, and can eventually lead to worse things like root rot. Thankfully, a friend shared a great YouTube video with me about the proper way to water. After just one proper watering session, it’s obvious the plants are on the comeback trail!
I’m thinking they will need another 4-6 weeks of growth in the tent before we can harvest. In the meantime, we started some new seedlings that are already taking off!
